  25. There has been a recent series of messages about the compatibality of 
  26. LightWave 4.0+ running on any of the Windows os's (win32, win95, or 
  27. winNT).  Are there any plans on porting a version of LW to run on the 
  28. OS/2 operating system??? I know that Windows programs will run under OS/2, 
  29. but with the overhead of Windows.

  31. OS/2 has several features that may allow LW to preform very well, and 
  32. retain some of the features that exist on the Amiga side.

  34. OS/2 has the ability of running multi-tasking, multi-threaded 32 bit 
  35.      applications.

  37. One MAJOR plus for using OS/2 is that it has REXX ports, it always has.  
  38. >From what I understand of LW4.0 for Windows, there is no 
  39. 'programmable' macro support (such as REXX).  Personally, when using 
  40. modeler on the Amiga, I always am using scripts of my own or those that 
  41. came with LW. The conversion of Amiga REXX scripts to OS/2 REXX scripts 
  42. should be very easy.  I have successfully gotten several AREXX scripts 
  43. (not LW scripts!) to run on OS/2 with very little modification.

  45. OS/2 can support a multiple processor system.  Im not sure what the 
  46. limit on this is, but there is a machine in our department that has 3 
  47. Pentium processors running OS/2, nice and quick!!

  49. There is an established user base of OS/2, over 10 million copies as of 
  50. last count. (granted, not as many as Windows, but still a lot!!)

  53. Anyway, it would be nice to see LW for OS/2 without the major overhead 
  54. of Windows...
